Oncology & Nuclear Medicine

Oncology is a branch of science that deals with cancer. In addition to the formation, causes, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, all subjects such as genetic transmission and prevention are evaluated under this branch.

What is Cancer ?

It is a disease caused by the uncontrolled proliferation and growth of cells in an organ or tissue. Cancer is named according to the organ or tissue in which it occurs, and there are over 200 known types of cancer. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the world, after heart diseases.
 

Currently, 51 million cancer patients live worldwide and 19 million new patients are expected to be added to these cases in 2022. One out of every 5 people is diagnosed with cancer at some point in their life.
